I am kind of bummed. Nick told me tonight that he is shooting his scenes for his next film during Valentine's Weekend (also a long weekend), so he doesn't even know if we will be able to spend any time together that weekend. So ... bummed-out-ness.

Ben keeps hounding me about going to work first before going to grad school.

Has your life ever felt claustrophobic?

My former TA Peter is my newest hero! He is writing my rec for grad school, and from the looks of things, it will be a *great* letter! Yay!

Peter designed a test for me today, although I did not know it until I finished. He gave me a publication that his workplace produces and asked me what I thought of it. I thought he was looking for some friendly design advice, so I told him about what I liked and did not like about the design. I impressed him! He said some of the things I mentioned in my critique were also mentioned by the actual design artist that created the piece, so I was right on the money. He said that's how he could tell how serious and knowledgeable I am about this design thing. Ha! Triumphant!

Updates about Mad Cow Disease (BSE: bovine spongiform encephalopathy):
1.) Incubation period of at least one decade.
2.) You are a million times more likely to be run over by a car than to develop a BSE-related illness.

I had non-Asian produced green tea today. It didn't even taste like Green Tea! It tasted like Red Tea or Jasmine Tea ... not a hint of Green Tea. Boo! Down with weak teas!

Today I actually seriously started looking at jobs. I'm now subscribed to MonsterTRAK, but I think I must be using it incorrectly because I haven't found anything I like. I mean, that has to be it, because Eva uses MonsterTRAK and InterviewTRAK a lot (and with much more success than me) without any complaints. So, I decided the problem has to be me. I must be using it wrong, because I am not coming up with a lot of listings relevant to what I'm interested in doing, and most of the listings that do come up are for internships, not real jobs. I guess I'll have to ask Eva what I'm doing wrong.

And while we're on the topic, I think it's stupid that all the on-campus recruitment is for accounting majors. Seriously. I looked at InterviewTRAK, and it's all accounting positions that they are doing on-campus recruitment for. Don't they recruit for any other types of positions?

Today, as I was eating some of those valentine hearts with the little phrases like "Cutie Pie," "Kiss Me," etc., I wondered if they made one that said "Marry Me" and then I wondered how many men wanting to propose to their girlfriends think it's cute to present her with that specific candy on Valentine's Day as a proposal. Then that led to how many bags of that candy and how many candies one would have to go through before finding that one special candy. Hee. It was funny while I was thinking about it ... not so funny now that I've written it down.

I'm excited. This week is pay week. Hee. Even though this paycheck is not going to be stellar, it is still something.

J at work keeps doing all the work, so there's nothing for me to do when I arrive. Argh. It's annoying. If people just went slower, there would be enough work to go around. But there's nothing on the shelves. Sigh.

I saw these totally cute jackets in the Gap window the other night, but did not get a chance to go in and look at them. Maybe I can convince Sarah to come shopping with me, since she liked those jackets too. Hee.

Last night Caroline and I ran halfway across campus in the rain before we gave up and decided to take the tram the rest of the way home. (We didn't have umbrellas.) So we got on the tram, and rode around and around for about 45 minutes before it got to a stop that was near our building. All the while, we sat on the bus trying to will it to turn in the right direction.

The other day, someone told me, "Don't be afraid of uncertainty; you're only 20-something ... uncertainty is supposed to be present at this point in your life." Ummm ... no? Uncertainty scares the heck out of me. How am I not supposed to be afraid of uncertainty, damn it? I need to know where my next paycheck is coming from, where I am living come fall, whether I am going to get into grad school or I need to start looking for a real job, etc. How is uncertainty a good thing here?! I just don't understand the reasoning behind that. Uncertainty is one of the scariest things in this life, and I can't just "go with it." Chalk it up to oldest child syndrome or whatever, but that is just messed up. I need to know what's going on.

Girls' Night Out was fun. We went to Buca's to eat, and then, because we took too long eating, we skipped the movie and went home instead. We parked in this shady-looking public parking lot which we paid $5 for, and there were only two other cars in that lot. The attendent who took us there (from the lot that we pulled into that turned out to be full) was supposed to be watching the two lots, but he stayed in the other lot most of the time. I was afraid the car wouldn't be there when we got back.

Sarah had a gin and tonic that was strong as heck! She only drank 1/4 of it before giving up. Blush and I both took a sip and were like, "What kind of drink is that?! That's like pure alcohol!" Oh gosh, it was nasty tasting. I think I'll stick with my girly sugary drinks. Gahh. Blush and I both had to drink water to get the taste out of our mouths after our sips.

Nick says he loves it when I go out with my friends, because he always gets good leftover food when I get home. It's true. They always ask if he wants the leftovers and give me all the leftovers to take home to Nick. I guess that's one advantage to being the one in the group with a bf.

... Oh, but I guess that's not entirely true any more. I just found out Blush has a bf too! I always suspected, but the last time someone asked her at dinner, she vehemently denied it, so I just put it out of my mind. And she just never told me directly because she just assumed that I knew. Haha. It's funny.

I enjoy eating with my girls. Good food, good company. Lots of conversations of WTF situations. Haha. (That's our new thing ... Blush and I are now randomly going to go up to each other and say "WTF!" instead of the real words. Haha. We'll see how long we can last without the cursing.)
