Birthday thoughts from us old people:

Bahram: Happy Birthday! I'm glad that you're getting old like me; now I don't feel as bad about being 23 and older than all of you because Eva and Jenny aren't too far behind!

Eva: Happy Birthday! How does it feel to be 22? I realized when I turned 22 in December that after 21, it's all downhill!

Haha. Silly friends.

Last night APO people took me out to Maggiano's to celebrate my birthday. It was awesome! Since there were fifteen of us, we dined banquet/family style, and there was so much food! Everyone took home at least one box of leftovers. (In my case, they gave me all the stuff no one really wanted, so I ended up with four or five boxes.) It was just insane how much food was on the table. Our waitress was kinda dorky and funny, and we really liked her. After they all embarassingly sang "Happy Birthday to You" in the restaurant, she told me she tried to find candles to match my sweater, but that she couldn't find the exact shade of pink. Hehe. She was amusing. All in all, a good dinner.

My presents were also kinda amusing. (Well, actually, they were probably only amusing to me. Hehe.) Sarah got me a gift certificate to Crate & Barrel, which is awesome! (I swear, domestic goods stores like that will be my downfall.) Blush totally made me out to be an alcoholic and gave me liquor-filled chocolates, a "bartender's guide" book, and a HUGE shot glass which probably hold two or three shots instead of one. We teased Bahram because he gave me a card with his present that was only signed with his name; there was no message written on it. Hehe. He gave me a really cute shirt, and all the girls at our table were like, "It's so cute! Awwww! Bahram, you have such great taste! Haha. He's such a sweetheart.

After dinner, we went off to Bahram's place to hang out. It was so posh. Oh my goodness. I only hope to live in a place that posh one day. The building has valet parking, so they have valets who take the residents' cars down to their parking spots in the garage. (They have people working all night long in case people come home late.) They also bring up the cars when residents want to leave. The apartment was huge! It was also wonderfully decorated; Bahram's mom has great taste in things! The whole place does not look like it belongs to 20-somethings. It is very very clean and very artistically decorated. I'm talking like Martha Stewart type of interior design, where everything is very simple but deliberate, and each piece is a statement. Hehe. They also have a wall of mirrors in their living room, which makes their place look even larger! (Mirrors make rooms look bigger.) We just all sat around and talked about stuff until 3 AM. Hehe. I'm so tired today, but it was worth it.

(after appetizers and salads are served and eaten)
Jenny: Dude, remember, you have to pace yourself. There's a lot more food coming up.
Nick: What?! There's MORE?! I'm already getting full on this stuff!
Jenny: Whoa, there's like three more courses to go! Save some room!

(after opening Blush's alcohol-centric present)
Blush: Yeah, I figured you can use all that stuff to continue your alcoholic habits. You can use the book to help make your drinks, and you can light the candles so you don't have to drink in the dark ...
Jenny: What?! *suspiciously* Why does everyone think I'm such a big alcoholic all of a sudden?
Blush: Because Pisey told us you drink alone! Only alcoholics do that!
Jenny: That's because I don't go out to parties and drink with random parties and drink with strange people.
Blush: (turns to Nick) Doesn't she drink alone?
Nick: *guffaws* Hehe. Yeah.
Blush: See, you should drink with Nick. Then people won't think you're such an alcoholic.
Jenny: Ugh. He only drinks beer.
*collective ugh from all the girls at the table*
Nick: (somewhat defensively) What? What's wrong with that?

(after opening Bahram's present)
Everyone: Awwww, that's so cute!
Jenny: Bahram, you have such great taste!
Nick: Oh, that's pretty ...
Jenny: Nick, next time you go shopping, you should take Bahram with you!

(watching "Jawana Mann," scene where man pretending to be woman is having a heart-to-heart with friend that thinks he's a girl; girl asks fake girl to help her put lotion on her shoulders)
Blush: Whoa, what the hell?! I don't ask my girlfriends to help me put on lotion!
*all the girls in the room murmur agreement*
Bahram: Damn it, why do you have to go ruin it like that?! *sighs*

Today is my birthday. Gahh. Except that it really does not feel like my birthday. It feels like it's just any old day. I think of tomorrow more as my birthday because there's going to be a banquet with APO people before they leave for their retreat. Banquets with my (preferred) APO people (as opposed to unpreferred APO people) are always fun. They're all so adorably funny, and we always have a good time. So, more excited about tomorrow than today. Hehe. I can't believe there's actually a banquet planned for Friday night; it seems unreal. I hope they don't have trouble getting up to Big Bear this weekend. It's supposed to rain and snow this weekend, so hopefully, they will be safe. *sarcastic* I love how they planned to go to the mountains in the middle of winter, when it normally snows. Californians don't know how to put snow chains on their cars! And they'll be cold the whole time there. *sigh* Oh well, I'm not going anyway. Can you imagine me stuck in a cabin with people I despise all weekend long? Ugh. I shudder at the thought. There would be some definite bitch fights going on. Haha, as it is, there might even be fights even if I don't go. Hee.

What is up with the high price of gas lately?! My gosh, it's nearing $2.25 for a gallon of premium gas. The prices have sky-rocketed in the last two weeks. Ahh! As if I had more money to throw away.

Hmm ... today was good. I went to dim sum and allotted myself three shrimp, which I ate with much glee. And no hideous allergic reactions appeared! I think that is the trick for now on. Limit myself to three medium-sized-large-sized shrimp per sitting. (Or four small shrimp, to compensate for the size difference and total amount of shrimp eaten.) Ahh, for the love of shrimp!
