The food commentary of the day is about .... eggs! Last night, Nick and I went to Denny's for dinner, and I gazed longingly at the breakfast menu because I was TOTALLY wanting scrambled eggs. Sigh. I decided not to get them, though, because I refuse to pay that much for scrambled eggs. I could just buy eggs at the supermarket for less and make scrambled eggs myself, damn it! But yeah, I have not had scrambled eggs in a really long time. I've just been eating out a lot.
Why are lots of my girlfriends (and somtimes random people) so interested in a "Nick and Jenny" wedding? It's a bit creepy, you guys! Somehow they went from "awww ... you guys make a cute couple" to "so are you going to get married?" It's all quite odd. At what point did that transition occur? I mean, we have been together for a decently long time, but things are a little uncertain right now in regards to our futures. (The biggest concern right now is grad school and/or job.) So it's not a good time to be making more than one set of life-changing decisions. I just thought it was funny how lots of them are looking forward to a wedding even though there's nothing going on at all in that direction. NOTHING. Silly friends. Quit overthinking things!
Haha. If someone were stalking me using my blog, they would thinking I eat a lot because I talk about food so much.
Ooo, I am nervous. I wrote another email to another woman at graduate admissions (the first one never responded to me) with my questions, and she actually wrote me back. She said my file is with the Admissions Committee and that a decision should be made in two weeks. Oooo. Butterflies in my tummy.
She told me TA-ships are not decided until after May. Which to me seems strange. Because if you were going to grad school, wouldn't you want to know how the heck you're going to pay for it BEFORE you send in your confirmation of enrollment?! I mean, it's the price of tuition that's on the line here!
I also found Girl Scouts selling cookies on campus today. Good times. Even though I'm not a huge fan of chocolate, I do enjoy those thin mints. Yum!

I am thinking about revamping this site. There are two ways I could do this: I could make a template in Dreamweaver and manually paste in the Blogger commands, or I could take a template off of somewhere and rework it to reflect what I want my blog to look like. Hmm. Not sure which one would be easier. I think both would take an equal amount of time.
I've decided that Kix is now my favorite cereal, even above Chex! Mostly because it is not sweet and has a very pleasant puffed corn-crunchy taste. I bet I could use it just like how I would use Chex, with all different tastes and adaptations. It pleases me so. Hehe.
I made my almond gelatin today. Ah, I am so happy. It is cooling in the fridge right now. I still need to cut it into cubes and add fruit cocktail. I like the smell of almond extract; it reminds me of almond gelatin fruit cups my mom would (only very rarely, which was why it was such a great treat) make when I was a kid. The smell would waft through the air of our apartment in the ghetto and make me all impatient to eat it. (Almond gelatin also pleases me very much, in case you didn't know.) I was only reminded of almond gelatin the other day when I saw a recipe for it in Better Homes and Gardens, except they gave it the name "Mandarin-Berry-Almond Floats" which was basically cubes of almond gelatin floating in a mandarin orange and berry syrup. I took the lazy way. I just bought the mix at a Chinese supermarket and a can of fruit cocktail. 'Cuz damn it, if it was good enough when I was a kid, it's good enough now! And well, that's how I have always seen Asian people eat it anyway. I am not motivated enough to actually take the time to make the gelatin and syrup from scratch. Geez!

A shoutout to Eva and the waffle-iron! Whoopee!
My printer has quit working on me again. This is the third printer that has broken on me since I started college! WTF. What am I doing that is breaking these damn things?! I turned it on today, and it refused to stay online; it continuously stayed in its offline mode with its error lights flashing. I even turned it on and off several times to see if that would help, but it was to no avail. The printer has an "ink monitor" function where I can check the level of ink in the cartridges on my computer, but my computer didn't even recognize that the printer was turned on! Argh. What is the matter with the darn thing? I really don't want to buy a new printer because I don't have any extra money right now, but if it's broken, I don't see any other choice. In the meantime, I guess I'll just have to print at Nick's (now that he finally has his own printer) or at school. Gahh. This upsets me.
I had a Caroline-esque moment today when I was trying to get my printer to work and instead got ink all over my hands. Luckily, I was able to wash most of it out and thus did not have to walk around with ink-stained hands, as she did.

Stupid. Take. Home. Exam. Grr. I might as well write a 7-page paper, since that is how long it's going to end up anyway. Gahh.
Today was sort of interesting. I went to an informational interview at a local magazine to talk to the editor about the industry. It was really helpful to hear about the magazine industry and what it's like from someone who actually works in it. She was able to point me to a helpful website to look for jobs, and she gave me some tips for searching other more common media job websites like to check the listings early in the morning and apply immediately because a lot of people look at those sites. All in all, it was a pretty good educational experience. Something that she said which worried me is that most magazine jobs are not listed. They are generally advertised through word-of-mouth and networking, so it is a good idea to know lots of different people who can give you the hot tip about an opening. Sigh. I had no idea it was so hard to break into the industry. *shakes fists in frustration*

I'm supposed to be working on my take-home midterm, but I really don't want to, so I am writing this. Hehe.
Last night Nick and I went to see the midnight showing of 21 Grams. Oh, man. I watched about half of it before I got really sick from watching the movie. It was a combination of the way the movie was filmed and the throb-like sounding music. I just got really motion-sick and nauseated and headachy, etc. It was not fun. Halfway through the movie (after a particularly bad wave of nausea), I just closed my eyes. But even that wasn't really enough to counteract the effects of the picture on the screen, since I could still see light flashing and moving through my eyelids, and the music was making my headache worse. So for half the movie I sat with my hand over my eyes (to block out the light). It was an interesting experience. Hmm.
When we got out from the movie at 2AM, we sat in the car for a while until I was ok enough to drive. We were hungry, so we went to Subway because it's open 24 hours, and is the only fast-food place I know of that's open late and serves soup. Because soup was about all I could get down at that point; didn't want to risk anything heavier. The thing about 24-hour places in college towns is that they're usually filled with drunk people that late at night. And this Subway was most certainly filled with drunk people. Even worse ... drunk, obnoxious freshmen! Gahh. Nick, me, and two other grad-student-looking people were seriously the only sober (older) people in that place. It was horrendous. There was this really loud annoying girl ahead of us who kept broadcasting everything she was saying, and it was not helping my headache. Then, as we were pulling out of the parking lot, there was a girl who totally sat down on the planter in front of the store and relieved herself. Gahh. No class. I guess this is why I cannot "let myself go" and get drunk. I'm much too prideful and self-conscious to do that stuff and then hear from other people the next day what an ass I made of myself the night before. I'd be way too embarassed to face people the next day.
