Reflections, Part 2

Graduation was good, aside from a stupid sorority girl accidentally putting her lollipop in my hair. John McCain spoke at our general ceremony, and I liked his speech about having courage to do and try new things in your life. I thought it was an appropriate message for the occasion. Both my parents and Nick's parents each bought me a bouquet of roses, so I was carrying around two big bouquets of flowers. My cap kept falling to one side of my head and being crooked. Nick and his family came to watch my satellite ceremony, which I thought was sweet of them. Hehe. :) Later in the day, I went to watch Nick's ceremony, and then I went home to eat dinner with my family. All in all, a good day.

And now, I am off to Cal and Idaho to visit Meems and Nick. I'm a little nervous, but I think everything will be ok. I have to take some Dramamine when I get to the airport, and then I should be good to go. I spent all last night packing, and I fit two pairs of jeans, two skirts, ten shirts, three sweaters, a towel, socks, underwear, makeup, camera charger, phone charger, and a hair dryer into my little roll away suitcase. (It is about 2'x1'x1'.) Nick doubted that I could fit everything in there, but I sure showed him! Muahahaha! :p It is an awesome feat; I am very pleased with my packing skills. When Meems sees how small my suitcase is when she come to get me at the airport today, she will freak out knowing how much I stuffed in there! Hehe.

Reflections, Part 1

Wow wow wow wow wow. And now ... it is truly over. I have graduated!!! I have not posted for about a week now because I've been busy with graduation-related things. I also wanted to sit and mull over my thoughts about some things. Which is why this entry is named "Part 1." There shall be more to come eventually. Hehe.

So first I have to talk about my stupidity with buying airplane tickets. For those of you who don't know, I am going to visit my best friend Mimi up at Cal for a couple days, after which I will fly up to Idaho to visit Nick while he's visiting his parents for two weeks. Basically, when I initially checked for the ticket prices, that was three weeks before the date I was looking to fly out on, so everything was cheap cheap cheap. It was like ... $40 to fly to Cal and $100 to fly to Idaho. I didn't make the reservations for Cal right away because I wanted to confirm dates and times with Meems, and then after that happened, I forgot to make the reservations for a couple more days because I was busy writing my stupid 19-page paper and running around getting graduation stuff ready. By the time I finally got around to it, the cheapest ticket price was $100! Then, even stupider, on the last night possible for me to reserve a $100 ticket to Idaho, Nick was standing over my shoulder watching as I was browsing for ticket prices, and I got cold feet because he kept pressuring me to buy it. This was at 11:00 at night. So I left the computer for a little bit and came back around 1AM, and it turned out that since it was past midnight, the $100 tickets were no longer available! So I had to reserve a $165 ticket. Argh! I wasted $120 because I procrastinated and wasn't on top of things! Wahh!

Then Nick's family got here on Thursday, and I finally got to meet his grandparents. It was weird ... everybody hugged me when they said hi. The reason that's strange is because nobody in my family ever hugs each other or shows affection. The only people I ever hug are my friends. (Which is not all that often either.) And here these people were, hugging me when they hardly knew me. Not that I'm complaining, or saying that it was bad that I had to hug everyone, you have to understand. It was just ... strange ... a surprise that they were all so friendly and welcoming. Within fifteen minutes of me saying hi and talking to them, Nick's dad started telling me that they wanted me to go visit them in Idaho and asked if I would like to do that. I got cold feet again about it. I refrained from telling them I'd already booked a ticket and just kind of said "Uhh, maybe, I'm not sure yet." Their enthusiasm kind of set me aback and I didn't know what to do, so I decided to waited until after graduation to tell them about it. Nick said to keep it a secret so he could surprise them when I finally flew in. Hehe.

Thursday afternoon we got all dressed up in our graduation robes and regalia and walked over to campus to take fake graduation pictures so we wouldn't have to contend with all the people trying to take pictures on campus on actual Graduation Day. Blush and Eva never showed, so it was basically just me, Sarah, and Nick. Hmm. We took lots and lots of pictures, and Nick *jokingly* (I feel like I have to emphasize the "jokingly," otherwise people will think he was being racist or something) said, "We look like those fobs who dress up and take pictures the week before graduation!" Sarah and I turned to him, and Sarah was like, "Uhhh ... I don't think you could ever look like or be mistaken for a fob, Nick" while I told him, "Hey, you can't call Asian people fobs! Only Asian people can call Asian people fobs!"

And that's it for Part 1 right now. Gotta do some work. Part 2 will probably be written sometime later today, once I hit another lull in my workday. :p
